BIG ROOM – INTRODUCING

Adelaide progressive indie-rock band Big Room have released Unleash The Beast, a high-energy alternative rock anthem with plenty of heart and soul and brimming with unforgettable hooks.

Big Room formed in 2000 and have since gone on to release several singles and albums. Their debut Wastelands received impressive reviews throughout Australia and attracted significant radio play on commercial and community radio. Other previous Big Room releases include A Hand of Four Aces (2006), No Agreement (2011) and Giant Leap (2015), which have all enjoyed notable airplay time on Rage (national), JJJ (in the simulcast with Rage), FBI Radio (NSW), 3RRR (Melbourne), 2RRR (NSW), 3D (Adelaide), Edge Radio (Hobart), TOP FM (Darwin) and 4K1G (Townsville).

The band is renowned for their progressive experimental sound that blends dynamic organic-based instrumentation with persuasive social commentary. Unleash The Beast is a contemporary battle-cry, utilising an epic soundscape encompassing colossal drums, blazing horns and an alluring vocal performance from Davy Johnston. Beginning with a bracing brass riff, piano textures and stomping toms, the track quickly establishes its defining feature: a narrative built on generating a frenzy of willpower, determination and inspiration.

The verses do a marvellous job of creating tension and suspense, harnessing an evocative lyric and a sparse direct melody. This all leads to an epic chorus, replete with cascading guitar lines, soaring brass and a spirited lead vocal performance. Unleash The Beast is the kind of song you would expect to hear at a sports match, with its fist-pumping dynamics and high-energy rhythmic surges. The new track is a slice of intense Oz rock, in the tradition of Hunters and Collectors and Midnight Oil, it’s loud, strong stirring emotional musical experience.

Taken from their soon to be released album Searching… Big Room’s new track is a timely call to arms, a modern revelation of sonic escapism like the kind that typifies all enduring rock songs.
