It’s Still You is the new release for US country music artist Rusty Gear. The track is a brilliant blend of country, rock, and pop with a few carefully chosen contemporary production textures. It’s the follow-up to last year’s hit Check in Check Out Blues, which featured fellow US country stars Calamity Jane. Check in Check Out Blues was well-received at radio and across all streaming platforms.

Beginning with a musical motif that incorporates slide guitar and various other traditional country sounds, It’s Still You soon segues into a country-pop hybrid that weaves together a melodic strength to a direct and compelling lyric. The story communicated here is one of frayed yet tenuous connection, a relationship in the past that has found a fragile kind of hope in an opportunity for renewal.

The melodic power is at its apex in the chorus, where the lines, It’s still you it’s still me / And baby we both know it’s not the way it used to be / We’ll never have forever and maybe that’s alright / But that don’t mean I won’t dream of holding you tonight, reveals the personal dynamics as much as it identifies the depth of feeling.  With over 900,000 Spotify streams and counting, Rusty’s new single will fortify his position in the contemporary country music world. It’s Still You will no doubt add to the many chart successes of Rusty has had with his first three albums: Happy Ending (2018), Second Gear (2019) and High Gear (2020).

Rusty’s first single, Wondering Why, reached number one on Europe’s Hotdisc Top 40 country music chart and number 51 on Billboard’s Country Breakout Chart in the US. From High Gear, Sorry Excuses, featuring vocals by Bekka Bramlett, reached number two on the Roots Radio Chicago Blues Song Chart and High Maintenance reached number seven on the same chart. Also, from High Gear, Tequila Won’t Solve Your Problems hit number one on the Hotdisc Top 40 in April and Won’t Forget (Remix)was number one on that chart for four weeks in June.

The success of It’s Still You will affirm Rusty Gear’s place on the contemporary global country music scene.
