Perth based TSTY has just released a stunning new alt pop-rock track Broken, taken from their EP Stuck In A Photograph.
The band recorded the song in LA with producer Jon Lundin (Good Charlotte, Sleeping with Sirens, The Faim) and draws on all the fresh energy of their live shows to create a captivating and irresistibly hooky track. Featuring impassioned performances by the band—Chezni Watson (lead vocals), Claudia Calabrese (keyboard/vocals), brothers Reece (guitar/vocals) & Caleb Lenzo (bass) and James Papanaoum (drums) —Broken is an electrifying contemporary track with a feisty indie-pop edge that pulsates with urgency and allure.
After playing to packed crowds in some of Perth’s most renowned venues TSTY attracted a loyal fan base that now looks set to extend beyond their home town. The new single is a great blend of pop and rock elements, with powerful melodic hooks and a relatable lyric. Kicking off with a guitar keys intro and Chezni’s heartfelt vocal, the song builds gradually to reach a peak with an unforgettable chorus that reveals the band in all its spirited glory.
The production is superlative and makes good use of the various nuances of the band’s sound, harnessing smooth synth textures, fiery guitar parts and tasteful keyboard work to impressive effect.
The band is currently co-writing and recording with Michael Bono (protégé of Grammy-nominated producer John Feldmann) who was eager to work with them after witnessing a live performance of the band. As Michael has said, ‘I’ve been lucky enough to have worked with world-renowned musicians from bands such as 5SOS, Twenty One Pilots, Blink 182 and Fall Out Boy, and when I saw these guys play live, I instantly knew they had something special’. And that something special is encapsulated in Broken, the break-out track for TSTY.
