The Lighthearts’ new single Love Is Here To Stay is the song which looks set to be the band’s breakthrough hit. After getting their first taste of success in 2015 when Sony crowned them winners of the Westfield Sound Search competition they went on to play alongside some of the most successful acts in the country including Cat Empire, Guy Sebastian, Birds of Tokyo, Ash Grunwald and The Beautiful Girls.
A highly regarded EP followed which contained the hits Hold Back the Sun,Your Man andAll That I Want after which came an intense period of writing and recording. Love Is Here To Stayis the first track to be released and what a folk-pop gem it is. Produced by ARIA-nominated producer Stuart Stuart (Sheppard, The Veronicas), Love Is Here To Stayis a jam-packed tune with hooks everywhere and a soulful good-hearted sound that sticks in your head after one listen.
It’s bright and optimistic with a hopeful message that’s helped along by an infectious feel and irresistible charm. Kicking off with a lively acoustic guitar feel, which quickly introduces the verse, the pop sensibilities of the writing are immediately apparent; it’s replete with melodic hooks, chants and vocal harmonies that segue into a brief pre-chorus after which an ultra-catchy chorus arrives. It’s full and dynamic and satisfying all the promise of the previous sections.
Jack’s voice is strong and self-assured with a convincing swagger in his voice that takes full control. Aiding Jack’s performance are the background vocals, shimmering and soaring. There’s a lot of energy in the band’s performance too, with an organic and dynamic combination of guitars, drums, bass and vocals imbuing the song with a signature sound but an unrelenting drive and power also.
It’s immediately apparent to the listener that there is a level of passion and commitment on display here, a power pop-folk band in full flight performing a finely crafted song that is sure to saturate the airwaves and become a certified smash.
