The latest release from American singer-songwriter Rusty Gear, taken from his album of Americana tracks, is Check in Check Out Blues, featuring Lucy Cantley on fiddle and Camille Rae on vocals, from popular country act Calamity Jane.
Check in Check Out Blues is a song that has all the best qualities of outstanding country and blues-rock, as well as a stirring and fascinating lyric, one that explores a woman’s life with acute sensitivity and succinct power. The sound is a mix of expertly rendered blues guitar, enthralling vocal and refined passages of evocative violin-playing.
Rusty leads a collaboration of enormously gifted musicians to create and record country, blues, and southern rock music and Check in Check Out Blues is no exception. The full, country-rock soundscape is augmented by a hooky, direct chorus and a freewheeling, open feel, and despite the serious nature of the lyric, Check In Check Out Blues is an optimistic take on a domestic situation, one that is as cautionary as it is highly engaging. The track relies on a laid-back warmth, the interplay of Camille Rae’s powerful vocal, Rusty’s expressive guitar playing and Lucy Cantley’s exuberant violin accompaniment.
The track also features some of Nashville’s finest players including, Tony Sarno (guitars). Clayton Ivey (keyboards), David Hood (bass), and Ed Greene (drums). Recorded in Nashville and produced by Tony Sarno and mixed by Leslie Richter, Check In Check Out Blues is sure to continue the amazing chart successes of Rusty’s previous releases, which include Wondering Why, Tequila Won’t Solve Your Problems, and Won’t Forget (Remix) reaching #1 on Europe’s Hotdisc Top 40 country music chart, and Wondering Why hitting # 51 on Billboard’s Country Breakout Chart in the US. And with Rusty’s songs generating over 600,000 Spotify streams, his new single will no doubt bump up that tally, further enhancing the career of this notable country music artist.
