BURROWS BILLBOARD SUCCESS
When Australian radio got on board with Michael Burrows’ single late last year it helped propel the indie singer-songwriter into the spotlight with a nationwide hit. Now it seems Michael is set to continue his run of success as a result of Turn This Love Around entering the Billboard charts in the US.
Michael’s song about personal relationships, the core idea of which is to never go to sleep on an argument, has spent four weeks on the Adult Contemporary chart and looks set to make a significant impact on the Billboard top 100 in the weeks to come.
This is an astounding result and a great testament to Michael’s musical artistry and vision. The chart news validates all the hard work Michael has done over the last few years, refining his craft with an eye on achieving big things at an international level. And this tenacity looks like it’s all paying off. It all began to fall into place for Michael back in2015 when Michael was handpicked by Martha Wainwright to join her on her sold-out acoustic tour of Australia.
But it’s not difficult to understand why Turn This Love Aroundhas made such a massive impact. It has a strong melody, relatable and direct lyrics and it’s performed with conviction, sincerity and a genuine sense of authenticity. It’s no wonder people are responding to the song on a global scale, it has what all great popular songs have—universal appeal. Michael’s earlier release from last year, Please Don’t Cry, which also received amazing support from Australian radio, and Turn This Love Around will form part of an album which is due for release later in the year.
Michael has teamed up with Grammy-award winning writers and producers, including Frank Meyers, a Nashville musical legend, to record and produce what is now a much-anticipated release. As Michael says, ‘I love that every song you complete goes on to have a life of its own.
It always amazes me where they can travel, and the way people connect to them.’ Turn This Love Around has indeed travelled and looks as though it will keep on going, connecting with people from all over the world.
