LIAM RORKE – Introducing

Liam Rorke is part of a group of new and exciting emerging Australian musical talent, a singer-songwriter whose candid contemporary roots-based pop style reveals a startling ability to continue the tradition of storytelling in song with acute observations and searing honesty.

Liam Rorke began his career in the music world at a very young age and then completed a degree in music before immersing himself in songwriting. His impressive new single Will You Be Mine is taken from his newly released debut album Heart Returning. Liam’s new track is an intimate, understated love song whose sophistication is balanced by a rawness and penetrating artistic gaze.

Liam’s soulful and endearing performance reflects the very personal nature of the lyric, one which exudes authenticity just as it emanates universality. As Liam says of the song’s origins, It’s about the feeling you get when you meet someone special and realise you’re falling for them, and the rush of excitement associated with that…and working up the courage to ask them Will You Be Mine?

The song kicks off with a shuffle beat that sets up the temper of the track, with Liam’s melodies weaving their way around subtle dynamics. Liam’s style is like a mix of Ed Sheeran, Gavin DeGraw and Jacob Collier; it utilises refined, romantic jazz-tinged pop with an emphasis on lyrics and evocative performances. As Liam says about what he’d like his songwriting:‘I’d like people to listen and feel and connect, and maybe help them put something into words that they couldn’t, or help them go through a difficult situation and feel they’re not alone’.

Audiences will no doubt connect with Will You Be Mine, a track which certainly does express what may seem inexpressible to some. And no doubt this is just one part of the appeal of this extraordinary new Australian artist.
