Lay With Me – Single Review
Lorenzo Iannotti’s breakthrough track early in 2019 Now and Forever, received an unprecedented amount of attention from US radio, charting in many territories including Chicago and LA. The video for the track was aired extensively on Time Warner Cable, Cox Cable and Comcast Xfinity networks in over 20 cities; an amazing feat for a local Australian music artist.

The song is a genre-crossing contemporary pop-rock track with a personal and relatable lyric, performed with real emotional fervour and intensity. The track begins with Lorenzo’s voice, a powerfully sweet tone laced with a vulnerability that highlights its versatile nature. From the lower register of the verses to the highs of the pre-chorus and the chorus,
Lorenzo’s agility reveals the twin aspects of his overall style; there is a pop edginess but it contains some mild grit that’s found in the voices of the best rock singers. Piano and vocal lead the way until the first chorus, where the excitement level builds and the track heats up.
There are wonderfully strong melodic moments throughout the song, from the contemplative-sounding verses with their subtle variations, the pre-chorus, filled with its own substantial hooks right up to the chorus where the melodic power is in full flight. There are some interesting transitional parts also, such as the backing vocal hook following the chorus, as well as the bridge with its divergent melodic style.
The production helps reinforce the melodies, the band parts and most of all, Lorenzo’s performance, allowing it space to shine and dazzle. The lyric cuts to the chase too, a directness which is as tasteful as it is intimate.LayWith Me is sure to be another radio favourite and contribute to Lorenzo’s growing prominence on the Australian music scene.
