ENVEE RELEASES NEW SINGLE –
Following the incredible success of Envee’s debut track Kinda Funny, the young up and coming rap artist is back with another impressive release Life Of Envee.
Beginning his musical journey early in life and spending time in London and Italy has given this artist a unique perspective on the world and his place in it. Life Of Envee is soulful and poignant, full of self-awareness and strewn with acute observations that encapsulate his experience of creativity, personal development and redemption.
It’s a heartfelt confessional that explores themes of loss and recovery, transformation and hope. It’s all here. And forming the perfect soundscape around which Envee has laid out his alluring and magnetic performance is Sam Antony’s luscious production, a textural backdrop that harnesses the sizzle and shine of today’s contemporary production standards and provides a strong foundation upon which Envee’s rhymes and emotional outpouring can take centre stage. It starts with an evocative introduction, a wistful key part that’s accompanied by mellow textures that create a nuanced ambience for Envee’s opening lines: ‘If I lost my head, if I ride and died,’ a communiqué that might be posed as a question but quickly becomes an apology, appealing to a friend using tones that are honest and determined.
This sets up the tenor of the rest of the track; from apologies to appeals, to confessionals and revelations: ‘breaks my heart to see you cry’. When the chorus hook arrives it’s sweetly melancholic, ruminating on what awaits but threaded through its metaphoric language is a glimmer of hope. As Envee sings, ‘I look up to the skies and see no one there,’ a statement that reveals the heart of Envee’s personal struggle: the realisation of the self.
This process of discovery has enabled Envee to create a moving piece of contemporary rap that’s as memorable as it is thought-provoking. The hooks here might be subtle but the impact of Envee’s artistry is undeniably strong.
